Pakistanian Hina Ceremony for Myanmar Wedding!

Well – We made it back to IGSL in Manila!  And man – it’s been hot!! (and humid!)  And our first week was a full one.  In addition to plenty of meetings and course preparation for the first term, we quickly had a new cross-cultural experience!

There is a couple of students from Myanmar that met here at IGSL and were getting married and the Pakistanian and Indian students here hosted a Hina ceremony of blessing for the couple.  It was an amazing experience to see cross-cultural expressions of blessing and honor in a family like context.  It captures so much the family feel here at IGSL.  It was another one of those moments where we were so thankful to experience it, but we were so excited our kids were able to experience it and participate in it!

Check out the pictures!!  Some of our Pakistanian students and friends gave me (Brian) and the kids traditional Pakistanian costumes to match the one given to Christine last year.  Check out the new threads! 🙂

  1. You truly an important part of your student’s lives. What fun to see pictures of you all, the bride and groom and the kids. So glad you are back and settled.
