Learning to Grieve 🙂

Not everyone was excited about Kindergarten.  Colin was super excited at first, but crashed hard when he realized he couldn’t go to.  We asked them this morning how he felt about this week and Morgan going to Kindergarten and he said, “Don’t Like It.”  I’m including a before and after picture and you should be able to tell when he got the news that he wasn’t allowed to go with Morgan.

Poor guy had his backpack out and everything.

We’ve joked how he’s gone through the stages of grieving.  He couldn’t believe it at first and kept trying to go for the few first days.  He bargained saying, “I go with you on Friday….”  He had complex emotions of missing his sister and then being angry at her for being gone a lot leading to a Jekyll and Hyde week in the sibling relationship.

Off & Running
This past week was really our big kick out of the gate for the school year.  Not everybody does – but I love strategic planning and engaging vision and values as we seek to minister and serve this year.  I enjoyed leading our team through our annual time of strategic planning this year and discussing some of the short-term priorities for 2010-2011.  Some on the team are taking on signfiicantly increased leadership this year and it’s been fun helping them develop in this area of leadership.

Health
You know those seasons where it seems like you’ve been sick forever and you can’t remember what it’s like to be 100%?  That’s kind of what it’s been like.  Fortunately Morgan was good to go in time for school but the rest of us are battling various things.  You can pray for Christine’s health above all of us given the pregnancy.
