We’ve  asked you to pray for Silas as well, a PhD Candidate in our Peace Studies program at IGSL. I am his advisor – my first official time advising! Silas is a Cru staff member in Cameroon and serves as a national leader with Athletes and Action throughout Africa.  He was not defending his final dissertation, but this was his proposal (a 120-page proposal!). 

HE PASSED TOO! The defense was helpful and constructive and helped prepare him for the next step which is his field research!

         Silas isn’t finished. It just means he got the green light to pursue his research and he’s already begun doing field research in Cameroon!  He is trying to get to the heart of what allows some African support-based missionaries to flourish financially (full salary, generosity in giving, ethical use of money, leveraging resources for Kingdom purposes rather than selfish purposes) when more than half of support-based Christian workers in Cameroon and other countries are operating out of less than 50% salary and with scarcity mindsets.  This has the potential to be a really significant study so please be praying for him!!
