After three years of going through missionary “re-entry,” I found myself wanting to harness all the lessons learned and wisdom during this challenging season for the sake of those who will go through the same experience at some point. First, yes, I would still classify us as going through re-entry! But I was surprised there wasn’t really a quality devotional for missionaries or ex-pats going through re-entry that helped people walk by faith day by day through the culture, identity, vocational, and spiritual challenges that come with the territory. At some point, my conviction and sense of calling to this grew to where I felt like I needed to take my best shot.
I’ve been working on it off and on when I have time, but I have a full 1st draft written and almost have finished another full revision. It has about 60 devotionals connected to the re-entry experience and transition plus a handful of small chapters that bring in some leadership development and spiritual formation insights as a select toolbox of sorts that are neglected in most re-entry resources. I like how it’s coming together and benefitting from good feedback. We’re convinced there is a need for a resource like this so we’re excited to see what God does.
1. Would you pray for the editing process and that it gets to its best possible version?
2. Would you pray that it finds the right publishing home and it’s the right place to help those who need it get access to it?
Last week we dropped Morgan back off at college in Arizona – it’s a lot easier the 2nd year! We miss her already, but excited for her to continue in her studies and life there But we’re excited for the fall as we continue to work for Great Commission Impact in Asia and the Majority World through teaching, coaching, and all the other things we’re fortunately still able to do.
Thank you for your prayers and generous support of our ministry! You are helping catalyze impact with both BREADTH and DEPTH for the Great Commission in Asia! God Bless!!
In Christ,
Brian & Christine
