IGSL’s 35th Anniversary!

Dear Friends!

It’s hard to believe that it has now been over 3 years since our family first got on a plane by faith to see what God had in store in us and through us in this journey at IGSL!  It has been a roller coaster in many ways, but the constant has been God’s goodness and the way he has continued to use us and IGSL to educate,  train, and bring personal transformation to pastors, church planters, Christian educators, and Christian marketplace leaders with a view towards multiplying disciple making and Great Commission impact throughout Asia.

Last month we were able to celebrate IGSL’s 35th Anniversary as a school and ministry. We have almost 1100 graduates in over 40 countries worldwide now! And while we are only in our 4th year of serving in this strategic ministry, we are blessed to be part of something God has been blessing for several decades and using to bear great fruit in many hard to reach places.  God raised up the school from humble beginnings and protected it during the great 1990 earthquake in miraculous fashion. If you would like to read a brief overview of the history of IGSL you can go to http://www.igsl.asia/about/history.

One of the more enjoyable statistics we learned from our alumni department during the celebration is that 97% of IGSL’s alumni are still continuing on in the work of the ministry wherever God has placed them. 97%! That is amazing compared to some of the comparable statistics from some other seminaries. We hope that encourages you!

Here’s a couple of our highlights from the celebration:

I (Brian) was able to see a student named William who I taught our first year at IGSL from Myanmar. We spent many hours working on his ministry plan and strategies and vision for when he would return to Myanmar upon graduation. God has now been opening doors for him to minister in both the business sector as well as among Parliament members. He has a growing ministry as God is using him to lead business leaders and politicians to Christ and provide discipleship and Biblically based leadership training.

We were also able to see Azeem from Pakistan who we shared a couple updates about a couple years back.  Azeem is back in Pakistan and splitting time between serving as an evangelist and helping translate resources into their language for effective pastoral ministry.  He has already translated systematic theologies, preaching books, and others including books on Christian worldview!  He is very excited for how they are expanding the resources for Pakistani pastors and church planters to be effective in handling the word of God. And he came to the anniversary celebration with good news – his wife Alishba is pregnant with their first child due in November. This was fun for us as they were in our very first Christian marriage class that Christine and I taught!

                Faithfully,

***As you can see to the right – the celebration was a packed house of students, alumni, faculty, and ministry partners. We heard incredible testimonies of changed lives – from military alumni to ex-convicts to internationals who are doing ministry throughout Asia. But best of all – the tone throughout was worship and gratitude to God and celebration of the grace that has given us new life through His son. We wish you could have been there!
